What We Do

The Basic English Language – ESL in the Community Program identifies casual and untrained ESL volunteers, tutors, and teachers in Edmonton and beyond, and supports them with a training workshop, a set of lesson plans, and other teaching resources.

Why We Do It

Many newcomers experience barriers that prevent them from attending more standardized and structured language classes, and many smaller organizations and individuals are working hard to fill this gap and meet newcomers where they are. We would like to lend our expertise to support the quality of instruction delivered by those organizations and individuals.
