Workshops and materials for untrained ESL volunteers, teachers and tutors!
Are you a community-based casual, untrained English teacher supporting refugees or other recent newcomers? Or have you been thinking about it, but don’t know where to start? We would like to make your life easier, and set you up for success!
Come to one of our workshops and receive:

basic training about the refugee experience and language teaching

ready-to-go lesson plans (aimed at beginner levels)

a stack of ready-to-go teaching materials* (books)
* Please note that due to limited resources, only those currently working with a group of learners will receive textbooks (we kindly ask for a small contribution of $40 towards their cost). To check if you’re eligible to attend or receive textbooks, click here.If you are interested in teaching in the future, you can attend the workshop, space permitting, and access some of the materials in electronic form in our Lesson Plans section.
Teaching ESL in Community
To sign up for a workshop click on any one of the following dates.
Basic Training
All workshop are on Saturdays from 9 am – 3 pm with a 30 minute lunch. The price for the workshop is $40.

Conversation Skills
All workshop are offered during the week from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm with supper provided. The price for the workshop is $25.

GROUP WORKSHOPS
Have a group who is interested (6+ participants)? You can come to us, or we’ll come to you! Just submit your name and email address and we’ll be in touch. Depending on your request, some charges may apply.
