This year’s Winter Celebration was a huge success! From the amazing new venue to impressive attendance and enjoyable entertainment, the party was one for the books. More than 150 students, volunteers, and staff came out to Robertson-Wesley United Church’s spacious Memorial Hall for an evening of fun and celebration.
CCI instructor Ron infused the evening with energy as master of ceremonies. First on the agenda was the potluck dinner – and there was so much food! A spread of over 100 dishes from all over the world graced the tables with plenty of veggie, meat, and halal options.
After everyone had eaten, it was time for the prizes and entertainment. Performances included a traditional Filipino song by office staff Candice; a Cantonese pop song performed on guitar by LEX teacher Wen-Cai; a traditional Punjabi dance by LEX teacher Harpreet; and finally, the CCI Intermediate B morning class with their teacher Alex sang Jingle Bell Rock. A variety of delicious prizes was given away in between performances. Even Santa Claus came to visit! All the festivities were wonderful.
Many volunteers helped set up and decorate the hall in the afternoon, and many more helped throughout the evening: volunteer ushers welcomed guests, other volunteers helped with food preparation and serving drinks in the kitchen, and many stayed after the party to help with clean up. Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this event possible!
