Halloween is always an eventful time at CCI-LEX. This year was no exception, with a pumpkin carving contest, a costume contest, and lots of candy everywhere! The Halloween theme got started the week before, with students helping to decorate the school with spider webs, skeletons, and other monsters hanging from the walls and ceilings. On October 29, students got together in groups of 2 or 3 and carved some impressive Halloween themed pumpkins – some were scary and others were very entertaining! CCI evening students also had their own miniature pumpkin carving session resulting in a collection of cute little baby pumpkins! The next day students voted on their favorites, with a first, second, and third place for the big pumpkin creations. Congratulations to all the winners and participants!
Halloween, October 31, was full of colorful characters, including our director, Anne Marie, who dressed as a giant lobster and spent the day running away from the very hungry master chef and program coordinator, Sheida, equipped with her tongs and seasoning. Other staff, teachers, and students alike got into the spirit of the holiday with other costumes including a professional tennis player, several witches, and many terrifying creatures. Teachers and staff visited every classroom to hand out treats (no tricks this time!). Thanks to everyone for another successful Halloween event!
